Three notes on cabin stays
1. Confirm the hot tub is private, not shared
Many Icelandic listings say hot tub in the description but mean a shared pot near the reception. If privacy matters, look for the phrase private outdoor hot tub in the room description and confirm by email before booking.
2. Kitchen or restaurant, both mean planning
Self-catered cabins (Frost and Fire, some Húsafell units) mean a shop at Selfoss or Borgarnes before arrival. Bónus has the honest prices, Krónan the wider selection. Restaurant-service cabins book the dinner slot at check-in; the small kitchens close by 21:00.
3. Aurora needs the deck light off
Every hot-tub cabin has a bright deck light for cleaning access. If you want aurora photography from the tub, switch it off at the cabin panel (not just the tub side) and let your eyes adjust for eight minutes.
